The words used by 958E to say where Bilbo is: OUTSIDE, INSIDE, IN, ON and AT. Bits 1-3 of the first byte of a room record choose one, so room 2 (flags $86) gives "you are ON the forest road". Bit 7 of the same byte says whether the room is lit.
